is this for you?
Jack Nicolson put it brilliantly in the road-trip scene from the 1999 movie As Good As It Gets:
Not everyone has a terrible story to get over. Some people have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad.
If you're riding with me, know that I speak from personal experience. If you can relate, scroll down. More than anything I want you to know, YOU matter to God. IT--whatever it is, matters to God. But no one can make that discovery for you. I count it a blessing to encourage you along the way.

God doesn't minimize the circumstances that break our hearts. We do, when we deny Him access to the pain.
"Thank you, Wendy! My husband and I read your book together and it was amazing. I intend to pass it on to a friend. One of the many blessings from the book is how I learned how to stop running from my pain. Before, I would panic when it surfaced. I struggled with this for years. Through your writing and speaking, I now bring my pain to Jesus. Words cannot express my gratitude."

Continue to Put One Foot in Front of the Other
They run for the joy of crossing the finish line after staying a course that feels impossible at times. They continue to put one foot in front of the other regardless of staggering elements of opposition: weather, injury, emotional stress, blisters, insomnia, sick stomaches, monthly cycles, and the list goes on. Rain or shine, they run.
That being said, let's take another look at Psalm 119:32.
"I RUN in the path of Your commands, for You have set my heart free."
Running requires perseverance, personal care, the willingness to seek help when we need it, and commitment to healing processes that will protect us from having to hang up our running shoes.
Okay. Enough with metaphors. If you've been hurt, the path you run is one of healing. The opposition you face is not imagined. Face it. Get all the support you can, but know that ultimately, you are the one who must run and run and run to experience the joy of having your heart set free. You are not alone when you run. God is with you every step of the way, just as He is with my friend, D'Lissa.
I'm so grateful that to date, God has not required me to sit in a tub of ice up to my waist!
