How to Forgive What You'll Never Forget
An entire generation of Christian women is weary from trying to forgive. With an authentic desire to grow in Christ, they study their Bibles, and sacrifice time with loved ones for the next program that will surely set them free. Free from the pain. And free to forgive, like Jesus, who first forgave them.
Rooted in Isaiah 61:1: "He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and an opening of the prisons for those who are bound"; this teaching offers fresh insight into the age-old topic of forgiveness. By the end of this teaching, women will be able to:
- differentiate between a wound and an offense
- discern when healing must be received before forgiveness can be given
- identify the five instinctual reactions to deep hurt and betrayal (Scriptural references are provided)
- understand the role confession plays in healing and forgiving
Reality Bites: Overcoming Heartbreaks and Painful Memories
"I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you" (Luke 10:18 NKJV).
Snakes and scorpions bite and sting. In this teaching, the "snake bite" represents harmful circumstances, the actual attack from the enemy, while the "scorpion sting" represents the memory of the bite.
In Christ, we have power to overcome a painful past. We can't change history, but we don't have to live the rest of our lives trapped underneath painful circumstances or the memories of them. By the end of this teaching, women will:
- understand how the Biblical meaning of protection is different from man's definition
- have insight into why Christians can appear unprotected when Scripture assures that in Christ we are
- be equipped to step into the fullness of divine protection and walk in victory regardless of their circumstances
This teaching includes writing assignments and is perfect for small groups.
Follow Me!
Jesus said to Peter and Andrew, "Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. (Matthew 4:19-20 NIV)
Discern between a busy Christian walk and a purposed Christian follow. One leads to exhaustion and burn-out, the other brings light to a dark world. Wendy helps women to:
- identify what their "net" represents
- know the difference between busyness and yielding to God's agenda for each day
- understand the priority of living the Beatitudes at home before "going out into the world"
- guard against the downfall of a Christian walk that lacks follow
